Twenty-two years after making his groundbreaking debut on the Atari 2600, Activision's Pitfall Harry returns for more jungle-exploring action. The intrepid adventurer is brought to life for more than 50 perilous levels set in such exotic South American locales as rainforests, glaciers, mines, and ancient ruins. As in the original, players must utilize Harry's athletic prowess to swing from vines, run from rolling logs, hop over treacherous pits, avoid snapping crocodiles, and more, while trying to survive the hostile environment.<br><br>His objectives? To retrieve lost artifacts before they fall into the hands of his rival and to save those in danger. Pitfall Harry will eventually encounter situations that even he can't conquer with a well-timed jump or two, so players can pull items stored in his knapsack to assist him. Like the character's single foray on the original PlayStation, this game is designed to make players smile while exploring the mysterious lands before them. Although Pitfall 3D made use of Bruce Campbell's voice for its comic effect, Pitfall Harry attempts to use its visuals to elicit grins, with the protagonist drawn as a caricature, with a large head balanced atop a slender body.

timeless classics for a new era
when they recreated this game for the gamecube it was a new chapter to an old old franchise. it may be a bit dated now but still utterly enjoyable to play.

Nostalgia? Yeah, that and more!
Pitfall Harry is no Indiana Jones. He's no Lara Croft either, but he'd like to date her. Luckily, he doesn't try to be Indy or Croft: "Pitfall: The Lost Expedition" decides to go for cockeyed humor over serious adventuring excitement, and it works. This is evident from the first scene: "They say that when a giant demon jaguar wreathed in fire is about to terminate your existence, your life flashed before your eyes. Actually, nobody says that. Not a lot of people have experience with giant demon jaguars." Cut scene to flashback aboard a plane, where Harry demonstrates impressive archeology knowledge and social skills akin to Leisure Suit Larry. Once we get to the jungle proper (well, crash into it), the game quickly brings in familiar elements including ubiquitous swinging vines, ... Pitfall Harry is no Indiana Jones. But this time Harry has some moves that would've impressed the Steve Irwin--yes, he can (usually) escape those jaws of death now. Add eels, scorpions, treasure--it's all here, plus a few new 'friends.' If you remember the original Activision Pitfall, you'll enjoy this. Harry and his world have been wonderfully translated to 3D. If you've never played the original, you'll probably still enjoy this if you're looking for a lighthearted game (but still with some challenge!) Plus rumor has it you may be able to unlock the original Pitfall games too... ;)
