Due to a new SATA specification that allows a 3.3V over the third pin of the power connector to disable the drive, the white label 8TB disk may not work with certain power supplies. I show the symptom and the cause, and I demonstrate two solutions - one using Kapton tape and the other using a Molex-to-SATA power adapter.
