The Philips DVP3040 is an audio-visual device that offers playback options for multiple formats and comes with a number of special features. While this unit is capable of playing back DVDs and CDs, its versatility does not end there. DivX digital input, various MPEG formats of digital media, DVD+RW, and picture CDs are just a few of the compatible playback options for this Philips DVD player. JPEG picture enhancements improve the visual qualities of images on inserted discs in this DVD player. Other features for the images in this multimedia player include flip, rotate, slideshow, and zoom. The DVD system has an integrated D/A converter that offers 12-bit 108 MHz picture enhancement for video discs. This up converts DVD quality for improved quality via the Philips DVP3040. NTSC and PAL are compatible video formats, and the DVD player offers playback for DVDs from any region. A 24-bit 192 kHz D/A converter up converts sound quality to match the improved visual quality produced by the video up converter on this Philips DVD player. A frequency response of 30 Hz to 20 kHz, signal-to-noise ratio of 100, 85 dB crosstalk , and dynamic range of 100 dB are utilized by this multimedia player. This Philips DVD player features multiple output options including a component video out and a composite video out. Dimensions for the DVD player are 14.2 inches wide by 1.5 inches high by 9.2 inches deep with a unit weight of 4 lbs.

Item was as described and packaging was excellent. The only problem I had was the cost of her shipping which was originally $11.15 to ship ground for a 6-7 ounce item. Seller gave refund of $1.62. I recommended to seller that she use a cheaper shipping method to no avail. Total for actual shipping cost seller received was $9.53 to ship something that could have gone for only $4.13. It's one way to make an additional profit. It is unlikely that I purchase from this seller again.

    Great DVD Player Region Free

    This is a terrific DVD Player that comes with Audio, Video Cables and a remote plus two batteries. Everything you need to get started. One of the cool features is that you can zoom in on a picture actually enlarging it. You can also set the on screen language to meet your requirements. It supports a great variety of disks including DivX on CD-R/W and DVD+R/W. Makes an excellent gift!

    Inexpensive DVD Player / Philips Quality / Basic Unit

    Quirky EJECT button on remote -- must press and hold the STOP button. Strange. No symbol on remote depicting universal EJECT symbol, etc. Otherwise, unit is Philips quality! Nice picture and great sound. Very simple to use -- except for EJECT DISC feature on remote. Superb Price! Would recommend this DVD player to a friend.

    Philips DVP3040 DVD Player

    I was looking for an inexpensive Philips DVD unit simply because I had had good luck with them. I have a few British or Australian-made DVDs, and I was able to easily unlock the unit to make it a multi-region or Region 0 player. The only problem I have is that there isn't a button to open the player as well as close it. Also, it has a tendency, at least with one dvd, to stop in the middle with no explanation. I figure that I may have to clean the dvd as well as the player and start again. Otherwise, I am pretty satisfied with this player; I plan to get another dvd player, hopefully with a vcr, and call it a day.

    A great dvd player

    If you're looking for a good dvd player that looks nice and also can play divx files then this is for you. the ONLY draw back is that it doesn't like xvid files which is the open source version of divx and it practily the same thing. To get past then you have to change the Fourcc code for files that are xvid and trick the player to think its divx
