Good Price for a laptop with some flaws
I expected a "B" grade laptop for the price, which is what I received. I was not surprised in the condition, but was perplexed the used hard drive was failing with read/write failures and it performed poorly (which an i7 with 16 GB's of ram should not do). I ended up installing a SSD with a fresh load and the machine rocks! I should mention I bought a 17" 8760w brand new 3 years ago, so I know there machines well and the value. I'm overall satisfied with the purchase and had no problems dealing with the hard drive issue being a computer technician. Can Effectively play WOW, Minecraft, Steam games and others. Not super fast but effective.
When it said Gaming I was hesitant since I didn't see any comments about it at all so I wanted to write one. I'm an older gamer who is also an executive that travels. This is perfect. The Microsoft Office software that it came with alone almost paid for it. I build my own computers normally so I don't get this feature since I'm a gamer 1st, it was a Bonus!. Now when I say effectively, I don't mean like serious raiding or combat, but if you're a piddler like me, its just barely fast enough (I'm picky about speed and hate lagging and dying) so I am thrilled! Powerful Laptop
With the hyper-thread quad core and the 2GB vVRAM Nvidia, there isn't much this laptop can't plow through. The 1080 display is beautiful. If you are doing any kind of graphics or games, this is the perfect tool. If you can find a good condition used one of these, it will be a better deal than any new laptop at the same price. It will outperform most consumer laptops out today (12-2015) and last longer since it's a military spec laptop. If you do get it, make sure you get the i7 2820QM - or any CPU with the Q designation (Quad-Core) and minimum 8GB of RAM. Also make sure to replace the main drive with a SSD drive. There are lesser CPUs with the M designation are found in this and other older laptops like the Dell e6520 or HP 8560p, and those models would be a better overall package since ... Laptop shell is spectacular! High quality aluminum and heavy plastic provide solid protection. Laptop is not light, but I prefer heft to something that would snap if I bumped it. Also, battery doesn't have a very long life (about 3 hours), but it lasts long enough. Screen has superb resolution and bright colors. Keys feel very solid. Multiple peripheral connections are surrounded by metal for solid connections. This edition didn't come with a DVD drive, but there is a spot to install one. Super Duty HP Workstation / Laptop
This is an older model laptop but has the same strength and "horsepower" of modern laptops with a few "upgrades"....Once the internal hardware is replaced with new parts it can go "toe to toe" with any of the newest laptops available today! Plus it contains far more advantages as it contains parts that newer laptops have abandoned for the sake of less weight and a slim profile.
