About this product

Product Information

In this sequel to Kid Icarus on NES, you must guide arrow-slinging angel Pit in a quest to retrieve three sacred treasures to protect the idyllic Angel Land from an enemy invasion. Your journey will take you across 13 levels and three vertically designed fortresses, each filled with an assortment of crawling, flying, and slithering enemies and guarded by a boss creature. To assist in his adventure, Pit can find various shops and chambers to acquire items such as hammers, hearts, keys, and life-replenishing water. Unlike the NES game, the Game Boy version lets you save progress via battery backup.

  • A portable Kid Icarus game. What more is there to say. Awesome throwback.

If you played the original Kid Icarus on the Nintendo Entertainment System, then this game will cover familiar ground on the monochromatic GameBoy. If you take away the colour from the NES Kid Icarus, you get the GameBoy graphics. I was surprised how well done they were. I don't mind the monochromatic game screen. It's a fun and challenging game. It now includes a save feature instead of writing down any long passwords. I highly recommend this obscure sequel on the GameBoy. I thought it will be some poor little brother of the NES version, but I was wrong. If you find a complete game in box and documentation, nab it. You won't find many. And they sometimes tend to have a higher price than other gameboy games. What do I dislike about the game? Maybe the boss battles on the small ...

  • Hidden gem of a classic!

For any fan of the original 8-Bit NES classic, your sequel is here. Alot of folks missed this one on the radar when it was released in the mid 90's, but it wasn't readily promoted or available in many areas. The franchise has a cult following, and in my opinion, Kid Icarus was the best game made for the original Nintendo. As I said, this game lives up to those standards. I'm buying a second copy to take on the road and to the cabin. Excellent game play and fluid controls, superb graphics for 8-bit, complex maze levels, above-par side-scrolling worlds. If you were a fan of the original, get this! If you are new to the franchise and are looking for a fun game with a little complexity, get this! You won't be dissatisfied! The Eggplant Wizard is waiting for you...

  • Nothing bad about this game whatsoever.

As in the NES game, this sequel has nothing bad about it at all. The artwork attracted me when it first came out in 1991 so I was very addicted when I played the game. The graphics are much improved and there is still great variety in the soundtrack. Most of the items you acquire are the same as in the NES version, and the thematic concept is basically the same. It's always funny when you get turned into an eggplant HA HA!! I also appreciated the different levels and the fact that the final boss isn't repeated (i.e., the NES one had Medusa, this version has someone else). As I stated before, I cannot wait to try out the DS version of this series, I know it will be worth 20 years wait time!!!
