Having run my Excelvan BM-800 microphone through the onboard audio and a PCI Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE, I experienced some hissing when listening to the microphones output, this was due to electronic interference as many say. Using this USB sound card fixed that for me and the only background noise I hear now is the actual hum of my computer. The package comes with a USB extension cable in case you want to not have the sound card plugged directly to the USB port, this is handy since as shown in pictures, there are controls for volume, speaker mute and microphone mute. The blinking blue LED can be annoying but if you don't plan on fiddling with the controls that much, you can just hide it behind something on your desk. Overall I highly recommend this if you want a separate sound card from your onboard one, want to have less hiss on your microphone (a good microphone also helps), or have a higher quality mic but don't want to shell out for phantom power just yet.Read full review

Not sure about the virtual 7.1 features on this device but it works really well with a large diaphragm condenser microphone. On board sound cards and even a PCI card only output 3 volts which is too low for a Phantom power microphone. 5 volts from the USB works for basic Phantom power devices. I use it for pod casting, creating videos, and video chat and it makes a world of difference in output with the condenser microphone. For music recording or vocals I would personally use an actual 48 volt Phantom power device such as a mixer or USB audio interface made for this purpose. For basic chat and videos works perfectly with the BM800 Condenser Pro Audio Microphone. Haven't used the output side but the Sabrent is a quality device and with 5 volts of power should put out plenty of signal output as well.Read full review

I have a new headset that I bought to play on PC, the problem is that ot had a microphone and a headphone jack and I couldn't connect to them to the PS4's input. I tried a Y splitter but it didn't work it didn't catcb the microphone. Than I bought another USB sound card at Target which was complete trash. Today I recieved this on in my mailbox and I went to put it on my PS4 ans it didn't fit, luckily it came with a USB extension. It sounds clear on both ends. All the buttons work on the card, my only complain would be the LED light constanlty flashing, it's not a big issue since you can easily cover it. For 12 bucks I'd say it works great. Got this to help my mic output properly but it came with no instructions whatsoever. It's all that's in the box besides a USB extender (didn't know it came with it but i won't complain) I've had a lot of issues setting this thing up and to the average person, they'll probably come into the same problems. I plugged it in to the back of my computer (all usb ports eventually) and came to find that only the speakers i plugged into it would work, plugging in my mic wouldn't even show up sound as i checked. Since this didn't come with anything i had no idea if i had to press the buttons for something to work, so i messed around with it and still to no avail. Eventually i found out that i had to actually disable/forget the other sound options i have showing up on my speaker/recording settings in my sound tab on windows. For some reason this made it work. It's a hard problem to look up as well. As for now, it works fine. I don't think i'll be able to mess with the other settings anymore but i'll cross that bridge when i come to it. This is cheap, and will work with just about anything. This is 2.1 though, not for surround soundRead full review

I purchased the card to use with an old bare-bones machine I bought to upgrade. I run Win XP SP3 on it and the card installed easily and worked well once I changed the Bios sound function from interior to exterior. I coupled the card with some not great Logitech speaks that also had a subwoofer and played a CD to test the sound, It was not loud and produced distortion (maybe with better speaks this might not have occurred) when turning up the volume. But at lower volume it was very smooth and adequate for the small space in which I plan to use it. The card is a very good value for the money.

Plugged it in and it worked right away, no problems. Having this is a must if you want crystal clear sound from your microphone port. Not only does it provide great sound from the microphone port, it also has nice clear sound from the headphone/speaker port. That means no static sound or white noise whatsoever! Although you can't crank up the sample rate to studio quality sound, it still manages to sound exceptional when you set it to DVD quality. I have nothing bad to say about this sound card. BTW. I'm using this soundcard on windows 7 Professional 64-bit Go and get yourself one!

In a nutshell. My laptop sound card died. Everything else worked, just no sound. Co-worker told me about a USB sound card. He showed me this one. WOW just plug it in and laptop recognized it real fast. Plugged my speakers in and BAM, I now have sound. This little item is inexpensive and does an awesome job.

I'm a mobile DJ and bought a used laptop as a backup. When it came time to use it, the sound was horrible! I bought this product to replace the internal soundcard, plugged it in and ran to my mixer. HUGE sound quality improvement!

Great alternative to your onboard card. I DJ and it sounds just as good as the onboard card used to sound. The included extension cable I highly recommend using, otherwise it can easily be broken protruding from the USB port.

I use this device for audio while operating my Ham Radio Remotely from all over the world. Audio reports are outstanding. I have six of these, one for each of my computers and a spare.
