About this product

Product Information

The developer of the arcade-style baseball game The Bigs returns to the field with an entirely different take on America's pastime in MLB Front Office Manager. Designed for statheads and sabermetricians, Front Office Manager puts players in the role of general manager of a MLB team and tasks them with building a winning franchise. Gamers create a unique GM by choosing appearance, age, nationality, and most importantly, professional background -- a decision that will determine if the GM is stronger with money and contracts or scouting and development. Aside from the standard tasks of making trades and signing free agents, players will also need to manage minor league rosters, set budgets for worldwide scouting, participate in the Rule 5 draft, and even bid on posted Japanese free agents.

Solid personnel moves increases a general manager's attributes and mistakes have the opposite effect, but luckily gamers can consult Billy Beane, GM of the Oakland Athletics and star of the book Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game, for in-game advice and encouragement. Players can also watch broadcast-style presentation as they manage some of the finer points of each contest, while gamers looking for multiplayer action can head online for fantasy leagues featuring traditional rules for rotisserie and head-to-head scoring systems.

  • Addictive!!

This game is for the Fantasy guru's, move players up and down your farm system one by one. As you SIM further into the years you do have to do more with talent and keeping an "Eye" on who you set up for success. Extremely challenging for those people who think they can handle numerous things all at once. I for one do not understand a few aspects to this game, but still love playing this game. I am more of a conservative type GM, I do not give incentive type salaries to my players and some players end up walking on me......its all part of the game folks. My favorite aspect is that you can draft international players in the "Prospect" draft as you set budget allocations for each country or region all over the world. There is also a "Rule 5" draft, know where your holes are that you need to ...

  • Know what you’re getting into - not for everyone

This is a game with a very specific target player and a very different playstyle. Think fantasy baseball in console form. The focus on the game is organization and strategy to win games, not actually stepping in and playing them. I mention fantasy baseball because the object is to build a solid team through roster moves (trades, free agents, waivers, etc.) and micromanaging your team on every level. Understanding how to structure a line-up is key, as well as building a bullpen to support your starters. This strategy will also need to be applied to every team within your farm system. Sign and groom young players, work within a team budget, cut dead weight, pick and choose carefully who you sign. If your preference is the set-it-and-forget-it team game, this is not for you. If you ...

  • Disappointment

The game was average. I enjoyed controlling the team of my choice and all the real everyday stuff GM's do. There were way too many no names/fake players. With all of the teams in the MLB they should be able to list and rate all of each individual teams prospects instead of using fake players. It makes it a lot more fun with more real players.

  • Disappointing

BORING!!! Very disappointing game. My 14 year old son was hyped about being able to manage his own baseball teams with this game, but within a half hour he complained that the game was stupid and he wanted to trade it in. His major complaint was that most of the available players were no-names and that none of the good major league players were available in the draft. I don't know how far he got into the game, but know that it had to be bad for him to just throw it aside after all of his initial excitement. I don't know much about the game myself but know that for a kid who likes to methodically manage his fantasy sports teams, this game was a disappointment.

  • Please do not buy this game.

I have been on every site I could think of warning people about this game. It is that bad. This is by far the worst game I have ever played. Please do not buy it. The Rating system is horrible: most players have a 55 rating, trades are impossible, and there were times I couldn't even sign free agents. I know I am being harsh, but this game deserves it. I can't believe 2KSports let this game go out to the public.
