Great for streaming Pandora, Spotify and Bluetooth. Has a second dedicated zone that can play different sound while the main receiver is on.
This is by far the best deal out there for the money in receivers. Many receiver say they have a 2nd zone when actually that second zone only plays what the main zone is playing. When you are watching TV or a movie in the main room where the receiver is you can listen to music in another room. In the last couple of months in summer/fall of 2016 they came out with MusicCast which is like Sonos but for Yamaha. You can now stream wirelessly to speakers in other rooms which controlling their volume and source in that seperate rooms on your smart phone. These Aventage receivers are extremely reliable to say the least and the menus are easy to navigate. Having to not have a wired feed to the internet is huge. In many cases there is not ethernet where you want to keep the receiver, now ... This is by far the best deal out there for the money in receivers. If you have a home already wired for surround sound, you can leave zone 2 on, on Pandora for example. I have customer call me all the time looking for a new Yamaha and in many cases they still have one from 15-20 years ago that still work fine, but they want the new streaming features.

Amy product that Yamaha produces is well engineered and well built, be it a Yamaha Grizzly ATV or a Yamaha Audio/Video Receiver. I own both. I have owned a Yamaha RX-A780 for 3 years now and it’s an excellent piece of equipment that allows you to “input” to it several commonly used devices of a typical homeowner, including TV cable receiver, ROKU receiver, DVD player, phonograph turntable. You can also send to it via wireless “Bluetooth” the digital music that’s on your iPhone and that will play over the speakers that you have attached to the “system” you have set up. So, in summary the Yamaha becomes the “traffic cop” standing at the intersection of several roads, directing all the incoming traffic to the right places. It is a versatile and high quality piece of equipment. Having given ... It is not a plug and play proposition by any means. The manual, in digital form only, is about 200 pages and could be better written to explain adequately what you need to know. So if you are new to this subject be prepared to have some exasperating moments as you acquire the necessary understanding. IF you’re willing to put up with that you will have an excellent piece of very versatile equipment.
