Once done, you're inside the home of Mother Hen, the neighbor who raises hens for their eggs which she supplies you generously. But there is more to Mother Hen than her eggs. It's what happened to her husband that's both sad and funny. From the cover, you get an idea of how old I am. You reach my age, and you've seen some changes in your life. We've even seen changes we don't understand nor convinced that they improved anything. But we haven't seen anything yet. Take self-driving cars. Just around the corner, they tell us. Or the patent-pending self-wiping automatic toilets. Those wonders of porcelain technology will arrive soon at a toilet store near you. It's right next to the Ford dealership.We live in fractious times. What is comical to some is considered hate speech by others. Social justice warriors claim tacos were culturally misappropriated from Mexico and demand them sent back. I'm sorry, but that is crazy funny. From what culture did a 'sense of humor' originate? We need to send it back! Here's a box.Neighborhood Nut Job is thirteen short stories from my neighborhood. My stories are mostly humorous interactions with my neighbors with some cultural observations thrown in for good fun. Getting to know our neighbors makes us better citizens, our communities safer, and our lives happier. It allows us to practice the socialization skills that we learned when navigating the schoolyard as young children. I might argue that our civilization depends on it.
