A fairly inexpensive pedal from a name manufacturer. It offers a basic tremolo sound. If you're not sure what tremolo is, listen to some Everly Brothers tunes. Not too much difference between hard & soft settings. The main controls are speed & depth which are really all you need for this effect. It switches in & out quietly & doesn't seem to add any noise when it's on. Came with a battery, but offers adaptor use too, so it should work with a one spot or similar. The housing is plastic so don't go crazy stomping on it. Small size to fit on a board easily. Too soon to judge durability but with care it will probably last. Just don't beat on it. It's a classic retro effect at a reasonable price, even if the "tuna melt" name is stupid. (The marketing department must have been eating at the corner deli when they named this whole series of pedals.)Read full review
I am 60 years old and remember when tremolo was the primary effect installed in guitar amplifiers, ahead of reverb. I presently own two fine amps, although they both have reverb neither have tremolo. So I searched out pedals to accomplish this effect. The prices are generally over $100 to $400. This Danelectro product sells for a fraction of that so I was concerned with the quality. After reading many reviews I decided to pull the trigger and try one at least to see if I'd liked having tremolo available enough to buy a 'better' unit in the future. I'm very pleased with the range of tremolo effect. There is much more variety compared to the tremolo of even the blackfaced and earlier Fenders. This pedal does all I need it to do. It's a sturdy little device too.
I've talked with a lot of guitar players who look down their noses at Danelectro products; especially the effects pedals. For myself I've found them to be on par with similar equipment from other companies. This is certainly true of the Tuna Melt. It sounds as good, to me, as the tremolo pedal from Boss. Yet it's smaller so it'll take up less room on your pedal board. Plus it has two different settings depending on how intense you want your sound to be. If you buy one of these you will likely be satisfied as I am.

Ive been in music over 40 years and played with some famous artists as a bassist . Now i find myself playing guitar needing the veary sounds this pedal has to offer . Dan electro has always been known for quality products at a great price . I only wish they had another line of pedals that were made out of metal with big easy to read knobs that have a set screw for players not wanting to use a pedal board .
This is actually a GREAT tremolo pedal, not just for the price, but because the thing allows you to get many sounds, for example you can dial in an old Magnatone amp type trem, with a HARD stuttering effect that is not common on most amps. I was curious as to the price these are going for, and am not surprised that they still command 40 bucks. Just like they did 15 years ago when they were first made. Honestly, this is one of the best Dano things they ever made... Let's be honest, they did make a lot of sub par stuff. But, this is not one of those things! I will not let mine go. I have a Victoria Amp, which I absolutely love, and frankly, the built in tremolo is not nearly as versatile. That REALLY sez something!!!
My first tremolo! Thank you very much! ^_^ It came with a new unpacked Danelectro battery inside the pedal! :O

I love tremolo and I've tried a wide variety. The Tuna melt has good, old school tremolo at a cheap price and a compact package. For around $30, you can't go wrong!

Hands down the best bang for your buck when it comes to tremolo pedals. Sounds better than most others Ive heard that cost double (or more) of Dan Electro's.
