well this review will be very unusual because ....myself or my son have never even got to play this .... we heard of rocksmith a couple years back and my son has told me he wanted to get one so that it would help him to learn to play the guitar,,,but unfortunatly we have not been able to afford to get one of them yet ..it seems like with the tight budjet we have that something else more important always comes up and we have to put it off every time we hope to purchase one of the editions that they have made for rocksmith and we need it for an xbox 360 with cord included and we would be happy to have any one of them even one thats been used would be just fine ...so as for a review about this product ive searched enough to know that they are a very popular item so they must be exactly like they claim to be...and that is a simple and fun way to learn to play your electric guitar .....so i am going to say that we have bolth played reg guitar hero and that is fun so im pretty sure this should rate at the very top for beginning learners and alot of fun to play ........Read full review

This game can be a bit confusing and disorienting for those like myself who already play guitar and read tablature. It can be a challenge at times to mentally process what you're actually seeing on screen. Having said that, it has been fun as well and a good motivator to keep practicing.

This game has a great concept. Teach techniques and songs using your own instrument. This is the reason I bought the game and from what I've played of it so far, Rocksmith does a good job of teaching me the skills I need. Another great feature of this game is that whether you have an electric guitar or a bass guitar, you can play this game. HERE'S THE KICKER: With the normal amount of research I found you could use a bass guitar with this game, however I did not find out you have to pay EXTRA in order to do so. EXTRA. About $30.00 extra. Please be aware of this fact before you buy the game. The music selection as of late has been limited and has a lack of major names, though Rush fans can rejoice: you can purchase and download some of Rush's good songs. The songs that are in the game have been well picked and offer variety of playing styles and techniques. I'd like to see more choices for download. Compared to other games like Rockband and Guitar hero... This blows the others out of the water as far as realism goes. Yeah, I'm looking at you RB and GH with your silly plastic guitars and colourful buttons. Real deal right here. Aww yeah. Granted, Rockband does have more instruments to choose from (keys, drums, and vocals) but if you want to sing along Rocksmith provides the lyrics at the top of the screen. Everybody sing along!Read full review
This is a great game. If you can call it a game. I plays like Guitar Hero, but you are playing real songs. My only gripe is the cable is a little short. I have played guitar for 20 years as a hobby. I have sometimes went years without picking up a guitar. Playing through the computer gave my backing tracks and the ability to record, but the learning curve for most software is steep and prep time before playing was too long. The computer can be frustating to get a good interface that is easy to setup. I was thinking of buying a Fender G-Dec amp for the plug and play ability of using its backing tracks, but the learning curve is also kinda steep. I found that Rocksmith was easy to setup and fun to play it has me playing guitar more than I have in years. My only dislike is the constant tuning between songs or exercises. Thanks for a great product.Read full review
I purchased a used guitar at a flea market and wanted to learn how to play. After I had it restrung and got the essentials at a music store all that was left was to learn. I wasn't haven't too much luck with learning from the instruction books as the process wasn't really sticking for me. Then I remembered hearing about Rocksmith. I read some reviews and for the most part it seemed simple enough and that it would do the trick. When it showed up I plugged it in and I was right. It starts every song off as if you're a beginner so you can learn every song at your own pace instead of picking a difficulty level and then trying to keep up. The controls are simple enough and it has tons of songs available right from the get go. Plus, one of the first minigames that you unlock helps you to get better at moving from fret to fret. I would definitely recommend this product to other users.Read full review
