While not the sort of movie I would expect myself to enjoy, two of its scenes rendered the whole disc valuable to me as a permanent addition to my library. 1) An idealized view of the 1950s - spot on, even to the color of the walls and the type of furniture, along with that decade's innocent optimism (I was there, back then, and can swear to how correctly this film depicted it); 2) The plant's final song, with singing coming from unexpected places. Had to make me smile.

Based off a short 1960 B-movie of the same name, this is one of the few Broadway shows to go to film! Little Shop Of Horrors has been noted beloved by fans of all sorts. Seymor Cralborn, (Rick Moranis), lives on Skidrow, which in this film looks like it isn't too far away from Chicago based on the cheap backdrop. He finds a cheap venis fly trap from an old Chinese man and believe this is what will bring Musnik Florist's Shop back to business. That is however this plant isn't an ordinary venis fly trap - it feeds on blood! Seymore quickly rises to fame by the man-eating and singing plant, (voiced by Levi Stubbs from the Four Tops). At the same time he has his eye on Audry, (Ellen Greene) who is dating a rather crazy dentist, (Steve Martain). Frank Oz, being the director shot the whole show with the original ending with Audry and Seymore being eaten by the plant. He did a prescreen with an audeince who had never seen it before and got a negative reaction. Frank went back to the drawing board to shoot the alternate ending. (This is eBay, if you're looking for this version with the original ending, I'll let you know I've seen it floating around, so keep an eye out for it!)Read full review
When the movie first came out, one of the songs, " I'm a big bad mother from outer space," was playing on the radio for making Billboards hits. Rick Moranis was the leading character that found a strange plant that drank blood. You also had Steve Martin playing a sadistic dentist. Anyway, you have this tiny little plant that keeps growing every time it get to have blood to to eat. The extra features told how much work it went through to animate the plant. The original movie was made in only 2 days, what a difference.

I bought this movie because when I was younger, my sister and I watched this, and then we watched it again , and again, and again. We learned all the songs and thought it was the best movie ever. I thought it would be so great for my children to watch ... but now that I'm older, I catch on to some of the adult content in it (I'm not one to shield my kids with over-protectiveness), and yet I'm not quite sure my children can go to bed alone at night after watching this one. It's still a great show and I'm glad I have it .. but this is one movie that was definitely better when I was nine.
I BOUGHT THIS DVD BECAUSE IN MY DAUGHTERS TAP MUCICAL THEATRE CLASS. THE RECITAL FOR THE WHOLE SCHOOL IS 80'S MUSIC. HER TAP CLASS IS DOING "LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. SO I GOT ON EBAY LOOKED IT UP ABD "BAM" IT WAS THERE I SHOULD HAVE JUST STARTED THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.MY DAUGHTER LIKED THE MOVIE BUT I DON'T THINK SHE TOTALY GRASPED THE CONCEPT IT BEING A DARK COMDEY AND HER ONLY 8.
