    Brilliant!

    I purchased these shears three or four weeks ago now and I am very pleased with them, very robust, well made, a pleasure to use and if they are anything like my Fiskars secateurs then they will remain sharp for a long time! The telescopic handles are very useful indeed, when they are fully extended I don't find them too long. Fiskars are a great brand, one of the best, I have been using their equipment for the past year and have received many positive remarks about them from those who are aware of the company's reputation. I would definitely recommend these shears!

    Good pair of shears & telescopic element is useful

    Ok for most people, but a bit heavy for my small hands. Nice smooth action and the telescopic function is easy and instant. I keep it cleaned and oiled between cuttings.

    Better design than most other hedge clippers.

    The ratchet devices on both handles stop the handles slipping to a shorter or longer length when you are trying to trim a hedge on top of step-ladders. Previous shears had a twist device to 'lock' the handles in place but it often failed in an annoying way. You can't concentrate on shaping a shrub or a hedge when your shears keep changing length! The blades are sharp but it's still wise to carry secateurs in your pocket for cutting woody or dead stems which are too thick for shears. The bolt at the crossing of the blades needs tightening now and then but that's not a problem.

    Fixed handle??

    A really good product marked down by a fundamental design flaw. The shear blades are attached to the handles by nothing more than high friction between the rear of the shear blade and the tight fit slot in each handle. There is no mechanical fastening whatsoever. The shears do the job brilliantly (razor sharp) and the telescopic handles are a boon on tall hedges. But after a cutting session lo and behold one of the shear blades has MOVED OUT OF ITS HANDLE! Even to the extent that the rubber cushion buffers no longer line up. The misalignment can be fixed by tapping the shear handle onto a hard surface to push the blade fixing back into the handle. Fine but come on Fiskars surely you are embarrassed by this fundamental design flaw.

    Unusual use

    I wanted length, light weight, and sharpness so I could reach over plants and remove dead heads from dahlias at the back of the border. This is not clipping but long distance, controlled, pruning. The dead heads are left on the ground to compost. It works!
