An excellent product
I wish this product were for sale in the U.S.A. at retail locations, but it isn't. I'd much rather use it on cuts and scratches and even blemishes to prevent infection than, say, an antibiotic ointment or cream. Savlon has two antiseptic ingredients, cetrimide and chlorhexidine gluconate (the latter is the active ingredient found in surgical scrub detergents such as Hibiclens). I think it's more effective against more kinds of bacteria than a topical antibiotic, and it's also less likely, I think, to produce strains of resistant bacteria. The 500 gram tube is actually quite large and lasts a long time. My one negative criticism is that I don't really like the perfume they use in it -- it smells, to me, like cheap, off-brand laundry detergent. Less perfume would help, and perhaps ... I wish this product were for sale in the U.S.A. at retail locations, but it isn't. I'm careful not to use it near my eyes or around my ears. (Check the warning on the label if you don't believe me!)

Indispensible and versatile and trustworthy. A true miracle cream as it is antimicrobial and protective as well with a long history of use. I am a diabetic and find Savlon does great for insulin pump lumps and cuts and grazes, works better than neosporin.Perfect for every first aid kit, boo-boo, blemish and skin irrirations, Savlon is safe, effective and I love it. Savlon is a superb antiseptic
Savlon is a superb antiseptic ointment [not antibiotic] that soothes, allows to heal scrapes and wounds as well as killing off surface germs. Its also relieves occasional heat rash or itches. Highly recommended.

We have used this since our childhood in England. Everybody knows SAVLON cream .Visiting family every year since 1973 We purchased it to bring back to Canada and USA. Savlon Gel Not so fond of. My Pharmacist here in Canada says I would have to buy 4 separate products to get the same ingredients.

Soothing Cream
I have used Savlon Antiseptic Cream to sooth rashes for more years than I can count. It calms the rash, does not cause more itching and allows the rash to heal. It is light, doesn't mark your clothes and has a pleasant smell. A little dab of the cream goes a long way so it is good value for money. I heartily recommend it.
