About this product

Product Information

This collection brings together some of the best episodes from this popular TV show, which ran from 1955 to 1961, and tells the story of one of America's most legendary lawmen. Hugh O'Brien plays Wyatt Earp with charisma and dignity in these (mostly) true stories of his adventures with Doc Holliday, Bat Masterson, and the Clanton Gang. The show covered Earp's rise to fame as he worked his way through a series of increasingly lawless towns--from Ellsworth to Wichita, Dodge City, and finally Tombstone. As his reputation grew, so did the dangers he faced. Among the 26 episodes presented here, in chronological order, are those dealing with the notorious gunfight at the O.K. Corral.

    Ok coral gunfight

Wyatt and his brothers including Doc Holiday went against the Clayton/Mcloury group in the Gunfight at the Ok coral in 1881. Pretty tragic ending for the Clinton-Mcloury gang. The most famous gunfight in American West History.

  • Hugh O'Brian Version of Wyatt Earp !

I have to admit rembering the Hugh O'Brian version of Wyatt Earp on the TV show... yes I am that old, (baby boomer) !! The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp was a western television series that was loosely based upon the adventures of the frontier marshal Wyatt Earp. It was a half-hour black and white series that ran on ABC-TV from 1955 to 1961 and featured Hugh O'Brian as Wyatt Earp. Amazingly, an off-camera barbershop quartet sings the theme song and hums the catchy background music in the early episodes of this TV show! Dell Comics printed a series of Wyatt Earp comics, after publishing three issues in the 'Four Color Comics' run. The photo covers with Hugh is the main reason for this title's collector popularity. The issues ran from #4 (September 1958) thru #13 ending in December, ...

  • Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp -DVD, 2005, 4 disc set

Brings back memories of my young days when I watched Hugh O'Brien as Wyatt Earp on TV. Westerns were big on TV in those days. Saw the first few seasons of the show, then I missed the Tombstone episodes. Don't care to get the entire Season 1 or subsequent seasons now becoming available on DVD. Too much stuff to watch. This is an excellent selection. Just enough to recall the good times of TV westerns in a far more innocent age. O'Brien was good as Earp among movie depictions of the historic character, better than Harris Yulin, Randolph Scott, Millard Mitchell; but he takes a back seat to Henry Fonda, James Garner, Kevin Costner, and Kurt Russell in their full length movies. Why was TV afraid of showing men in mustaches back then? Great for nostalgia fans of TV westerns from long ago. ...
