About this product

Product Information

The Samyang 35mm Aspherical Wide Angle Lens is an excellent addition to any photographers collection. It allows users the ability to expand their creativity and capture incredible scenery. This manual focus lens creates images with an expanded perspective with sharp focus that extends throughout the entire frame. Optical construction is based on 12 elements in 10 groups including one aspherical lens that prevents horizontal chromatic aberration. Advanced optical construction allows this lens to deliver razor sharp images even in corners. The lens is optically corrected which is especially useful in architecture and landscape photography and the 63.1 degrees angle of view allows the user to create extremely unique pictures. This version of Samyangs 35mm lens also incorporates an automatic diaphragm and features contacts that allow the lens to communicate with your Nikon SLR camera. This enables the A S and P exposure control modes of the camera and although focusing is manual the camera will indicate when a subject is focused correctly in your viewfinder. You can enjoy more convenient photography with these functions.

    Better than expected

Very sharp, although the distortion is a little heavy. Luckily I use DXO Photolab that corrects it pretty much perfectly. It transmits EXIF info and manual focus really isn't much of a problem, especially since it's an ultrawide. If you can afford/justify a Nikon UW lens, then definitely go for that. They are better in every way (I used to own a Nikon 17-35). If you only use an ultra wide lens occasionally, then this Samyang is a great choice.

  • Accept the limitations and you will enjoy this lens.

Control of lateral sagittal chromatic aberration is very good and IQ is high overall, especially in the corners where more expensive lenses are often weak. This is a particularly good lens for astrophotography. The trade off in price is horrific and complex (mustache) distortion. This means that simple barrel correction will not fix the problem and unless your RAW software supports a plugin it is impossible to correct. However, if you avoid photographing buildings (with straight lines) and seascapes (unless you put the horizon across the centre of the frame) the distortion is not really an issue. If you are shooting in natural landscapes without straight horizons, distortion becomes a non-issue. Lens construction seems solid. Infinity is not on the mark, but if it bothers you you can fix ...

  • Cost vs benefits is great!

Really nice lens... just take a couples of pict and i’m really really happy qith the purchase. I read a lot about it, and i feel without doubt was the right decision!

  • Samyang 14mm surprising results excellent value

Surprising little or no peripheral distortion, remarkable for a lens of this type. Very sharp and quite a good value for the price.

  • Manual only, more difficult to use than you expect

good lens but will need some practice to get used to. It is a drag as it is manual only. I should have spent some more money for a Nikon with automatic focus.
