Immediate alarm on motion (no delay), very loud, good battery life
I bought this for peace of mind and restful sleep in an environment that's not secure, like a hotel room or during an extended power outage during civil unrest. Unlike some others I researched, the alarm sounds immediately on motion, and is quite loud (like, ear-damaging loud, so be sure it's switched off before putting the batteries in!). Battery drain seems minimal so they should last a long time with it on. After motion stops, the alarm sounds for only a few seconds, not for a minute or two. This might be a good thing in case it triggers from a non-threat, so it won't keep wailing for a long time. It will still trigger again if motion continues, so a person moving through the room will cause the alarm to stay on the whole time. The case is cheap plastic, the battery compartment is ... Motion Alarm Works!
This motion detector is well built and easy to install. Understanding how it works could not be simpler. Mode one (1) "Loud Alarm." Mode two (2) Doorbell type chime. I installed it inside my front door eve (up high so the weather/wind does not effect it) as NOTHING else I did would keep the Swallows from REPEATEDLY trying to build a nest. You WANT the alarm mode to be LOUD to scare whatever kind of intruder off. So what after installing the four (4) AAA batteries and activating mode one (1) the alarm goes off for 12 seconds. It is telling you it is activated and working. I'm not getting any false alarms, and when the Swallows tried to build yet again, it went off LOUDLY and FINALLY they have not been back! WASTE OF MONEY!!!
HORRiBLE PRODUCT!!! To put the alarm into use, you MUST set the blaring alarm off (12 seconds of ear piercing screech) and then get away from it to avoid setting if off again as there is NO DELAY after turning it on. Manufacturer discontinued this item so long ago that they did not even have the instruction manual in archives. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!
