Not Perfect, But Is a Good Replacement
I had never changed one of these so I had to learn what I was doing. I removed all of the screws from the base of the laptop to find I only needed to remove one screw that held the dvd burner into the laptop. The replacement dvd was labeled the same, but had a different face on it; shaped a little different, but the unit fit as expected.

Replaced my Toshiba drive with it.
Bought this to replace the Toshiba drive in my Toshiba laptop. After my Toshiba drive failed while trying to reboot my system I borrowed the GUD1N drive from my wife's HP laptop and it worked just fine and I was able to bring my Toshiba back to life.. Thus when looking for a replacement drive for the Toshiba I choose the HP GUD1N.

Good drive at a great price.
Although I bought this drive for a different model laptop, I simply swapped the face-plate and mounting bracket from my old drive to this one. The drive hardware (SATA interface) of the two drives are identical so I knew it would work. And it does!
