It's worth the money.
Probably the only knock against this is it doesn't have much besides the fabric cover to rest on. The back half, where the metallic like handle is, at the bottom has a sufficient rubber protective coating. However at the front where the nice fabric is there's only a small rubber nub for it to rest on. The fabric is moderately durable I'm expecting, it'll probably hold up sufficiently enough with a tad bit of care, but you certainly don't want to be resting the speaker on it. That'd surely tear it up quickly. It's like they want to show off their cover and so only give it a small nub of protection so as to not interfere with the look they're going for. Good look too, but so-so idea for long-term durability. I expect if you use this indoors you'll have no complaints about the durability at ... Some are bound to use it outside, whether occasionally or primarily. It's then that the speakers cover may wear down quickly. It may hold up, but probably for those using a fair bit of caution. Definitely not something I'd stick in a garage and expect it to last. It probably would function fine, but look all jacked up in no time. The fabric isn't bad, then again, maybe it is. Other brands incorporate a dustproof fabric. This almost attracts dust. However while I started to rant a bit about the cover and protection, assuming that's not a concern of yours or you take exponentially great care of everything you have to an OCD level, then there's no real other complaints and the speaker actually becomes brilliant. I wanted something a bit more powerful than my previous JBL Charge 5 but also not crazy loud. I seen this has 50 watts of power. Some cheap & unknown companies exaggerate their speakers power to build up for a better sale. Usually known brands stick to the facts about their speakers and let the speaker speak for itself. So while this has only 10 more watts than a Charge 5, I again wasn't looking for something cracked powerful. So there I'm happy. While it's certainly a unique design this has a handle for portability, definitely a point in their favor as the Charge 5 does not. However I'm comparing it to my previous Charge 5, really it's actually a bit (only by a modest amount) larger than a JBL Xtreme 3. Setting aside power specs for a moment (yeah I know, the Xtreme 3 has more power) the volume level outcome actually put the 2 close to being on the same level, even if the Xtreme 3 does have more power. Besides, the music comes out much cleaner and still with a good amount of solid bass on this Harman Kardon speaker. Ultimately this is the first Harman Kardon bluetooth speaker I've had and the first brand new product I've had from Harman Kardon. I'm impressed and pleasantly surprised. Add a touch of care and I'm sure this will be around for years.

Speakers are individually brilliant.
I have two of the Onyx 7 models, HKOS7BLUAM. I have tested them individually for a brief moment and they work great on their own. However, when I connect them as stereos, the experience is a more of a three star. I have two Libratone Zip 2s, and the stereo connection and experience is brilliant. Actually, that inspired me to get this one. So I bought one and then bought it a 2nd hoping that I could use similarly to the Libratone. I do have intermittent connection drops, unpairing and repairing automatically between the two. The playing media device has 5.2 Bluetooth module. Looking at these two Onyx specs, they are a 4.2 BT version. I'm not sure if there is a compatibility here. I have not tried it with any other device.
