Anybody who remembers the show FUTURAMA will love this game--if for nothing more than to actually experience Bender, Fry, Leela, MOM, and of course--New New York. The game features all the original voices from the show and, like many others have said, it is essentially a "lost" episode--more so than a game. The game gets a AVERAGE rating because of the subject material, but the game playing itself is lackluster. You can't save your progress until you get to a checkpoint (and the checkpoint can't be saved), you can't pick a previous stage (but since I am playing it for the first time I could be wrong) and the unlockables are the cutscenes and screens featuring SLURM or MOLTEN BORAN that are shown when the game is loading. Right now, the jumping is driving me nuts (how many times can I do a jump and NOT land in toxic waste) but if you are a die-hard fan of the show then you will love it. Otherwise you can just move on to something else--buy a DVD collection and give a "thumbs up" proudly w/o pain :-)Read full review
FUTURAMA If you’ve seen any episode of the great TV show, Futurama, you will know how awesome it is. On March 28, 1999, Futurama first appeared on Fox. The show went on for four years, eventually ending in 2003. Midway through the run, the producers started making a Futurama video game. It was released in 2003, right before the show ended, for the Xbox and Playstation 2. Also, for Xbox 360 owners, if you have a hard drive, it will work on your 360. As soon as I started watching Futurama, a few months ago, I fell in love with it, and started looking for a game of it. I found it. Now, onto the review. As the game opens, Professor Farnsworth comes in, declaring that he sold Planet Express to Mom. Now that she owns more than 50% of Earth, she’s Earth’s supreme ruler, and is enslaving everybody. You have to stop her. Throughout the course of the game, you play as four characters, Fry, Bender, Leela, and Zoidberg. Fry’s levels are mainly shooters. The guns you get to use are a pistol, a shotgun, a machine gun, and a rail gun. You also carry a hammer for melee attacks. Fry’s levels play out in the Planet Express office, the sewers, the subways, Old New York, the robot Red Light District, Uptown, New New York, where you are in a “Chicken walker”, and Mom’s HQ. Bender’s levels are all butt-slamming, arm-spinning action on an asteroid. Leela’s levels are like Tomb Raider, as you play through a temple on the sun, and fight skeletons with your “Crouching Tiger, Disemboweling Parrot” Octuran kung-fu skills. Zoidberg’s level is a hard minigame in a swamp, where you find on a horse-like thing. It’s incredibly hard, but it was good to see him there. The graphics of this game are pretty good, using 3-D cell-shaded animation. They’re not in the same class as Halo, but they look good. The action is good, not too easy, not too hard. The cut scenes are hysterical, and so are the load screens. the game was written by actual Futurama writers, and Billy West, Katey Sagal, John Dimaggio, and all of the voice actors are there. Throughout the game, there are “Nibblers” that you can free. When you free all of the Nibblers in a level, it unlocks the movies, load screen, and music for that level. The game is rated Teen for Comic Mischief, Suggestive Themes, and Violence, but it’s not really a problem. There is some swearing, but nothing higher than “Crap” All in all, I give the game a nine out of ten.Read full review

Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
This game has become a hard to find item nowadays. So if you get a chance to get it for a good price, go for it! The game by itself is mediocre, but if you love the show, this is a must play game. Its very very funny, and of course has everything you can expect from the tv show. It takes some getting used to playing the game, but once you play it, it gets easier and is a fun fun game to play.
This is one of my favorite games. It's an instant classic. If you like Futurama, then you should get this. It is like a new season of Futurama, but funner, because you get to play too. The controls are a bit hard to get used to, but it is still fun. I recommend that every Futurama fan buy this video game. You won't be missing out. PROS- 1. Various fun levels on many planets. 2. Play as 4 different characters 1. Fry 2. Bender 3. Leela 4. Dr. Zoidberg 3. Fun and challenging. 4. Many great jokes that'd make any Futurama fan laugh over and over again. 5. Playable multiple times. (you won't get sick of it the first time you finish the game) 6. Uniqueness... The game is different from any that I've played. CONS- 1. Controls can be a problem and a bit confusing. 2. Camera angle gets confusing sometimes. 3. 1st person action only. No multiplayer. 5/5 stars. New season of Futurama comes out around 2008!!!Read full review
