About this product

Product Information

Odd alien Abe has worked for years as a slave at a futuristic meat packing plant called Rupture Farms. Though the plant prides itself on producing Paramite Pies and Scarab Cakes, the species the food is made from is on the verge of extinction. Using a full-fledged alien race as ingredients, the owners have come up with a new product called Mudokon Pops.

While eavesdropping on a meeting of the higher-ups, Abe discovers the horrific news; he and his people are of Mudokon ethnicity. Disgusted and terrified by this revolting development, the alien embarks on a journey to escape the vast planet and rescue his fellow co-workers. Unfortunately, the plant owners know of the revolt and are looking for Abe's head on a stick -- or in this case, a Mudokon Popsicle.

As homage to the days of Flashback -- The Quest for Identity and Out of this World, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is a side-scrolling platformer heavily rooted with puzzle solving and according to the manual, inexplicably challenging gameplay. Your job is to maneuver Abe through the dangerous confines of Rupture Farms and its bordering territories (Monsaic Lines, Scarabania) while sneaking, jumping, climbing and running for your life! The adventure will also have you solving puzzles by pulling levers to unlock doors, defusing bombs to avoid being blown to bits, sneaking past sleeping guards, speed rolling across the screen to evade gunfire and other situations that challenge the reflexes and the mind.

While Abe's primary goal is to stay alive, rescuing fellow Mudokon aliens is a top priority. Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee allows you to communicate with fellow friends and bitter enemies with an exclusive GameSpeak system. By pressing the L1 or L2 buttons, you can say hello to fellow Mudokons and have them follow your or hold their position; Abe can also be rude and funny by laughing at the inhabitants or breaking wind in front of a guard!

Game was as described. Good communication. At this price point don't expect to get it quickly though. It took about 14 days. Not a problem at all for me though. But just saying. Good deal, and I appreciate it. Thank you

    Killer Gas?

This game has you send expelled gas to your enemies and kill them. This game was way ahead of it's time. Probably the last great game of it's kind. It both entertained me and my kids as well as terrify them a little.

  • Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee

I found this game surprisingly a lot harder than I thought it to be. I played this before, but it took me a long time to finish it, and the first time I failed, so I played with it the second time, this time succeeding. This happened about seven years ago. Now, before I bought this game again, the CD was so utterly scratched up that it couldn't even start, and I frowned at my younger self for not taking a better care of the game. Now years later, I got the game again, and I'm happy to note that it's in good shape, a couple scratches and only one freeze during the game itself. Again, I'll say that the game was a lot harder than I thought it to be, and I like that frustration in a hard game, meaning that I have to actually work at it. I also forgot that the game ...

  • classic platforming puzzler

if you like platforming and/or thinking games this is definitely for you. You play as a "Mudokan" named Abe and you escape slavery from an evil company called Rupture Farms and now its your job to save as many Mudokans as you can along the way guiding them to portals using all sorts of different things to do it for example controlling the enemy by chanting, using bombs, leading enemies to their deaths, using the gamespeak system that allows you to talk and lead the mudokans to safety. The only downsides to this game is that it has a trial and error type gameplay which means if you dont know what to do the first time you will the second or third and so on because you will die in this game the other thing I dont like is the way the game is saved onto the memory card it wont ...

  • A classic everyone should play!

I played this game with my father when it first came out, and the following sequels. Now its many years later - and I needed to play it all over again! Since my first Oddysee was for a PC, I needed to buy it for PS2. Really is an awesome game. Lots of hidden levels, & you really want to look for them - because that huge status sign you'll see every once and awhile makes you sad [that is if you left behind your fellow Mudokons, or let them perish]. It is a really simple puzzle game. As in - if you jump in the wrong spot, you'll most likely die. I almost gave it a "Good" rating, because of that. But! Just get used to the movements & controls - and you'll be a pro in no time. -Marissa
