I hung it outside for 3 days in fresh air hoping it would air out. No luck. Trying again in filtered sunshine. If that doesn't work I'll try some Neutral Shoe Cream Polish to rub whatever it is off. Smells like formaldehyde? No matter what, I'll be keeping it. Bought one exactly like it about 10 yrs ago. Zipper recently broke. Leather still in great condition.
