  • Cannot Be Beat For The Money

When I got into DSLR photography I could not, at the time, also afford a Nikon SB-600 flash with a camera and a couple of lenses, especially as I did not anticipate a flash being required very much of the time. I did some research and settled upon the Vivitar DF 383-NIK. I have been very pleased with the results. This is a good high capacity flash unit. I started using it with my D60 and am now using it with my D5100. The swivel head rotates in just about any conceivable position, making it usable under virtually any circumstance. Whether using it direct or bouncing, I have had ample light for my subject. I have not used it in slave mode. It has a built-in diffuser and white reflector that retract above the flash itself and are easy to get out and then slide back in when not in ...

  • Good product for reasonable money

Pros: high capacity of flash, qualitative enough manufacturing. A sliding curtain. The head rotates in all conceivable and not the conceivable parties. Mode ADI for my chamber Sony. Cons: almost at once the cover of a compartment of batteries was broke off. Now it isn't fixed on the case, but fixed on a place well. Light covering has the form strongly stretched form. If to remove indoors close the photo center is across lit more brightly. The curtain corrects it. Other Thoughts:. It is my first tested flash, to compare to me there is nothing. But I am very happy. It is many times better to regular flash of mine Sony A350. I have been very surprised by capacity if to flash directly in a hand heat and if to a black paper there is a smoke)) is felt. As very much time mode ADI-TTL. Pictures ...

  • Backup

Nice flash with some useful functions. Good use as a backup and secondary flash

  • Buy a Yongnuo instead

Tried using on my Nikon D200 in TTL mode with intermittent success...sometimes it works, sometimes the camera won't recognize the flash and it reverts to manual mode. Also tried with my D7000 with the same results. Maybe just my example is bad but will keep and use as a slave. Just bought a Yongnuo 565EX and it works perfectly with all my digital Nikons.

  • A good digital flash

After 30 years I replaced my old good one Vivitar, the new DF383 work very well, the TTl mode and the display meter respond precisely with Nikon D3000 auto focus lens.
