Small but Potent
This lens, while possibly not technically excellent, is a unique creative tool that combines a ultra-wide perspective with a 1.4 f-stop. It stays relatively sharp in the middle. Since a common use of this lens would be to highlight the foreground subject and produce some bokeh in the background, it hardly matters if the background is not in sharp focus. Stopping it down does improve focus outside of the center. The lens is somewhat heavy but well balanced and attractive on the Leica T, TL2 and CL. As might be expected in this very wide lens, manual focus is very easy to achieve (almost everything is easily in focus at 17mm, if you want it to be.
