  • Interesting Thriller - Worth Seeing

This film doesn't knock your socks off, nor is it the best spy movie I've seen, but it is a solid three stars out of four movie. Caine and Brosnan are very effective in their roles (it is intriguing to see Brosnan in a villian role, especially now after seeing him play James Bond since this film was made). You have to pay close attention to make out the plot and sort out the characters, as you would guess knowing that the film is an adaptation of a Frederick Forsythe novel, but the payoff is worth it. Watching the film in the twenty-first century, it is a good reminder of the Cold War atmosphere of even twenty-five years ago. If you've forgotten what it was like back then, the film puts you right back in that mode of thought. Note that it has an "R" rating for a reason. There are ...

  • The Fourth Protocol

Excellent plot revolving around British Secret Service and Russian KGB. Politics on both sides determine the out come of a plot to detonate a small atom bomb in England near an American F-111 bomber base. Pierce Brosnan as the Russian agent picks up the pieces of the bomb, one at a time as they are sent over from the Soviet Union. Michael Caine is the British agent who discovers something is wrong with a known Russian agent who gets killed accidently as he departs a freighter. Back and forth, the 2 services try to do their assigned jobs with all the necessary brick walls in the script to make it interesting. Good acting on both sides. Excellent climax and anti-climax.
