Great chemical agent for darkening(greening) of metal alloys
I've applied it for brass details darkening. The results were amazing. Using this liquid I've got rich black colour on my engraving. It is easy to use in home conditions. Gives strong pigmenting effect very quickly. Does not have pungent smell. Of course it requires for particular safety precautions because of it is a poisonous liquid. I could recommend it to all people who work with metals and want to get dark patina on brass/bronze/copper or ancient exterior of different things.I've applied it for brass details darkening. It works on brass exactly as the instructions say. No need to let it sit longer than the instructions say for brass. It also worked on the copper I tried it on but it took a little longer. Two to three applications gave me the dark finish I was looking for. I even tried it on the silvery cast metal they use for anchors in wooden model ships and found that worked sorta. Repeated applications between dryings and it eventually got to a dark metal grey that actually looked pretty good. Obviously it wasn't made for this silver colored metal, but it did work well enough in the end. Usage and clean up was easy. Instructions were very clear. My nose doesn't work that well but my wife did not even notice an odor from it. (Don't tell her I did this in the hobby room. She thinks I did it out in ... Best finish for brass photo etched details!
You want to have a finish on your photo etched parts that won’t peel off then blacken before painting with this, it will ensure that your final finish will hold up over time. Or just darken and seal with a clear coat for the raw metal look.
