Summary: I recently bought a CSX3000, the top-handle chainsaw with the hip/belt battery pack adapter (ABH3000). This adapter allows you to use the ABH3000 with ANY Ego power tool. It is similar to the backpack adapter, providing the same capability without the bulk of the backpack. Observations: I did open the unit to inspect the internals. I found a standard Ego battery shell, which housed a pretty simple pass through wiring setup. The plug connections are similar to Anderson Power Pole connectors, the heavy duty 50-100A size. The plug has six ports/connections; two for each polarity, e.g. two for positive and two for negative, as well as one each for the temperature and data connections. Recommendations: The battery pack setups are about $250, which includes the ADB1000. You could buy the ABH3000 for $120, and add the ADB1000 for $90, which brings you to $210. A little less than the back pack setup, and it is a whole lot smaller. The US market Ego site does not provide details that this setup will work; however, I did find it stated on a Euro or maybe the Australian Ego sites, which is what led me to order the ADB1000 after I received the CSX3000/ABH3000. Pros: purpose built accessory. Cons: Cost, at $90, it's quite expensive for what it is (a battery shell with simple pass through wiring). Conclusion: At $90, rating this 4-stars (cost).
