Travel back in time to Mayan civilization as its end grows near in 'Apocalypto,' a beautifully filmed, yet intense drama directed by Mel Gibson. In an effort to preserve their lifestyle, there is a call to increase the number of human sacrifices to appease the Mayan gods. This leads to the abduction of Jaguar Paw during a raid of the village he lives in with his wife and son. The young hunter is a peaceful man, but to save his and his family's lives, he must use his skills to make a bloody escape from his captors and the sacrificial alter.     THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN. IT REVEALS THE TRUE NATURE OF UNCIVILIZED MAN AND THAT INCLUDES ALL OF US HUMANS. IT HAS A NUMBER OF POWERFUL THEMES THAT ARE AT PLAY SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE MOVIE IS TOTALLY CAPTIVATING WITH A SUPER GREAT ENDING.

    I had already seen this movie a couple of times and knew it was great. Mel Gibson may have issues, but he knows how to make a damn good movie.

    First of all, I love the movie and had searched for it for a while because it is out of print. I was thrilled when I discovered I was buying a new copy. It was in perfect condition still in the cellophane. Nothing bad to report. Excellent product in perfect condition.

    Good movie although creative license was taken.

    Apocalypto has beautiful cinematography, an edge of your seat story, and a lot going for it. If you are expecting a historically accurate portrayal of The Mayans then this isn't for you. To keep.things brief and knowing that very few movies are historically accurate especially coming from.Hollywood, all that aside and the outrage this movie caused in the State of Yucatan, it is a great movie. I'd highly recommend it as a buy because it is out of print and will not be found on any streaming services.

    Typical Mel Gibson, But Entertaining

    This movie is what I call "a typical Mel Gibson", i.e. over the top with graphic death and violence. I had seen Apocalypto before years back, but wanted to see it again. If you like stories (somewhat based upon documented evidence) of pre-European contact America, then this movie is for you. Many scenes are very intense with graphic violence. In all, it is a redeeming movie, for the central character overcomes great odds and becomes his own hero. If you could stomach The Passions of the Christ by Gibson, you can handle this one. The great twist comes at the very end when both the protagonist and the antagonists suddenly find that they each have a new enemy (or problem) far greater than dealing with each other. By the way, this movie is spoken entirely in Native American language ...
