About this product

Product Information

Veteran publisher Koei draws more inspiration from Chinese literature's Romance of the Three Kingdoms for its sixth installment of Dynasty Warriors. As with previous titles in the action-oriented series, players choose from a variety of stout heroes and noble warriors before engaging in historically inspired battles featuring hundreds of combatants. While the series has been criticized for its lack of significant changes from release to release, Dynasty Warriors 6 adds a number of enhancements to the well-traveled franchise. Chief among the new features is a revamped graphics engine designed from the ground-up to take advantage of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. This translates into larger onscreen armies, more open environments, 60 frames-per-second action, and refined character models. The emphasis is still on defeating throngs of enemies with swords, giant hammers, polearms, and other weapons, with lengthy combo chains possible by varying attacks.

As players become more skilled in combat, they can choose from a variety of skills to customize their heroes as they see fit. A new "renbu" system allows characters to earn immediate combat bonuses through dexterous play, but these bonuses are lost once the battle is over. Characters also have the ability to swim across water and scale walls to perform surprise attacks on enemy camps. Another change is the omission of bodyguards, so players must go it alone instead of having a personal entourage. In their place is a faithful steed that can be called upon in a pinch to make hasty retreats or to charge at full gallop into groups. The character's horse will also level up along with characters, improving attributes in speed or power in combat. Featured game types include Musou Mode, a character-specific campaign, Challenge Mode, offering specific goals to complete, and Free, which involves building a character's stats on any unlocked battlefield. Players can also team-up with a friend via split-screen display.

    Great if simple game

I love the franchise & this one is different enough that I'm enjoying it immensely. Definitely not their strongest installment & it's simplicity may irritate more advanced gamers, but if you're looking for a diversion from your usual stable, it's not a bad way to go

  • amazing graphics.

This is a great game. I heard most people either love it or hate it. I'm one of those people that love it. The problem i had with this game is the fact that they excluded most of the playable characters from previous games and changed Guan Ping's weapon [previously a big sword but now is a spear or halberd or whatever]. There are few character choices, and made dynasty warriors more of a button smashing game by removing the old square, square, triangle or square, square, square, triangle combos into just nonstop square combo hits and using triangle to break gaurds . However, despite the flaws, i still enjoyed this game. I enjoyed the horse level up system and the new character level up. I also enjoyed the amazing graphics, they were absolutely amazing. There's also a new system ...

  • Dynasty Warriors 6 (Great as Always!)

DW 6 continues to be just an overall great game to play! At times it can seem repetitive, but you just choose another character and switch up every so often. I own every single one since DW 3, and it keeps the maps, combat, and graphics to steadily improve over each game. The only issue is I wish the had intertwined all the new features and benefits to throughout each game. It seems they add something and remove something to compensate for it. If they kept some of the original perks I would have given it a 5 star. It's classic though and I highly recommend it!!

  • Buy for fun, Pass for Gamerscore

Dynasty Warriors 6 is just like the rest of it's franchise. It's the run and mash button game where you take control of a warrior from the classic tale of 'The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and fight epic battles. Except Dynasty Warriors redefines itself as a DW game. DW 2, 3, 4 and 5 all shared similarities and basically were the same games over and over. They had little features from one to the next. Until I played 6 I wasn't ever impressed with the follow up games. Broad new graphics, physics engine of the xbox 360 and amazing amounts of enemy troops. DW6 proves to be a contender for older DW games and truly gives you an amazing feeling when you pick up the game and are a DW vet. I would definitely recommend this game to any DW fans or even new players, but take heed. The Achievements ...

  • Dynasty continued

I've been a huge Fan on the Dynasty Warriors series ever since I started playing the game back from the second game in the series. I will have to say, graphically the game has improved well, however, story wise and Gameplay, it's pretty much the same deal it has been for the entire series, with minor tweaks here and there. Some would say this is why the series is either Boring or Stale, but long time fans will say that's the allure of the series. I ran through the game once and was a bit bummed that i didn't get 1000 kills on the first level like I did in previous games, so it is a little harder. Some of the weapons have changed, i don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but it will take some getting used to. The stages seem a bit different, just organized in a way to make it a ...
