Very Helpful
I had my first daughter last year while working as a Preschool Teacher for 12-24 month olds. Due to the age of the children, lifting was a constant necessity, and I needed something to help with support as my pregnancy progressed. I wore this belt from approximately 28 weeks to 37 weeks when I delivered, and felt this belt was very useful during this period. I frequently felt the pains of my ab muscles stretching, tenderness around the navel (like a bruise), and the typical pain felt in the lower back. This band minimized the pain that I felt in my diastasis area and possibly even helped prevent too much separation. I cannot say so for certain, but the stretching sensation in that area was greatly minimized. While sitting, the belt was definitely less comfortable, but I was able to ... I cannot say so for certain, but the stretching sensation in that area was greatly minimized. While sitting, the belt was definitely less comfortable, but I was able to easily remove it and put it back on after sitting, etc. Aside from this, I personally felt that this belt provided a lot of support and comfort. About the design... It is breathable, like mesh. It has plenty of velcro to allow for adjustments as your body changes with pregnancy. You can tighten it and set it lower down near your hips or even fold it in half to provide extra support for your hips, which helped me a lot with round ligament pain. The mid section is designed to sway outward and accommodate a stomach, so even if you tighten it, the mesh abdominal area remains relaxed so not to place too much pressure on your baby. This is a feature I particularly liked as it provided support while also feeling safe, unlike my other band, which I worried restricted my baby. Furthermore, my baby did not kick against this band the way she did my other belly and (or yoga pants, etc). I am now pregnant with twins and have been using the band since 18 weeks. My stomach is very heavy at 29 weeks and rolling from one side to another or getting in and out of chairs and cars causes uterine irritability and BH contractions. Wearing this band makes these actions much easier by putting less stress and strain on my ab muscles. The band is less comfortable with twins but does help and I normally put it on, fold it in half, and place the front low on my abdomen and the back slightly higher up to help my ab muscles hold everything up. I believe this band works very well for the pains you feel with abdominal stretching, tenderness in the navel, and lower round ligament pains. I do not think I would necessarily review it as ultra helpful for back pain, however, and might recommend a different band for that. I don't know, as back pain wasn't really something I dealt with a lot. I want to note... this band is NOT effective for postpartum binding. The front is mesh that contours to a pregnant belly to prevent construction. This feature is present postpartum as well and does NOT hold the ab muscles together or anything inward after delivery. It would most likely pooch out, or provide very little support in these purposes. After delivery, I used Shrinkx Hips and a bamboo Belly Bandit to pull my stretched muscles back together and allow healing. They weren't comfortable at first but did work, and work best for the 6 weeks postpartum when Relaxin is still heavily present in the body. I did not use them consistently with my first daughter but will be more vigilant following the twins: Hope this helps!
