About this product

Product Information

The only officially licensed baseball game from a third-party publisher in 2006, Major League Baseball 2K6 continues the sports series once known as World Series Baseball. Developer Kush Games has revamped the pitching, batting, and fielding interfaces from previous installments to address a number of issues. While at the plate, players can swing for the fences by pressing the right analog stick, dubbed the "swing stick," in different directions for stronger cuts or to push or pull the ball to various parts of the field. Players on the mound will need to master a new timing-based pitching system that involves tapping a button at specific moments to determine how close the ball will reach its intended target. Fielding now takes into account an athlete's momentum, allowing players to nudge or push the analog stick to jog or run. Stronger, riskier throws are also possible by applying pressure to the face buttons, while collisions can occur on the base paths as well as in the field.

To bring more realism into the game, the developers have added Inside Edge scouting data to mimic real-life tendencies of the hitters and hurlers in the dugouts and bullpens. By spending a specific number of Inside Edge "points" during a game, players can learn where to pitch a particular hitter or determine the likelihood a pitcher is going to bring the heat in certain situations. Other notable features include the ability to challenge umpire calls in an interactive mini-game, manage the team's morale through multiple seasons, and track a wide assortment of personal statistics through the VIP system used in other 2K Sports games. In addition to the standard season, franchise, and playoff game modes, Major League Baseball 2K6 includes the international teams and all-star lineups from the inaugural World Baseball Classic. Players can also take their favorite teams online with support for stat tracking, buddy lists, and custom leagues.

  • It is a solid Game.

Well, let me first start off saying that the game could have been better, but this by no means means that is a bad game. Some people are kind of blowing it out of proportion. Some have said that this does not look like an Xbox 360 game, I would have to disagree. The stadiums look great. The players also are pretty cool to look at. When I say the players, I mean there body structure. You can tell who is who by the way their body structure looks. This is cool I think. However, you will notice that when you look at there faces, this is where the game falls flat on its face. You wont notice anyone just by looking at there faces. But if you look at there body figure, you will be amazed at how close it is to the real people. Except overweight people, they make them look skinny in this game for ...

  • Lots of potential ruined by lots of bugs

Pros: Graphics sharper and more detailed than other consoles (w/ HDTV), pitching controls, batting controls, depth of features, smooth online play Cons: game freezes a LOT (supposed patch coming to fix this), fielding and baserunning controls are awful and very buggy, many little animation glitches, just a straight-up port of the regular Xbox version with marginally improved graphics overall Impressions: 2K Sports needs to learn how to develop games for the 360. They also need to learn how to actually test games before releasing them. There are so many little problems with this game that I'm not even going to try to list them all. Do yourself a favor and go with MLB: The Show on the PS2 if you can. The many positive aspects of this game do not make it worth the frustration if you have an ...

  • Disappointed !!!

Well I have to say I was disapponted with this game over all. Graphics are sharp but not next-gen, pitching is really well done, and I don't mind the hit stick. But base running is horrible and fielding is worse. Player models are not what I thought they should be, but a few players look alright. Yes it had a freeze problem but with patch from Xbox Live all is fixed. So basiclly this is the worst thing to happen to baseball since the strike and steriods! But your stuck with this game till next year. Maybe next year we'll have MVP back.

  • Major League Baseball 2K6

As expected, the Xbox 360 version of Major League Baseball 2K6 flaunts nicer visuals and livelier audio than either of the versions of the game that are available for the PlayStation 2 and the older Xbox. It also benefits from a slightly better variety of play animations and cutaways. That's the good news. The bad news is that the jump to the 360 hasn't done much overall to spice up the game's halfhearted presentation. Many player faces are still inaccurate, the same replays and play animations still recur frequently, and, although the animation is more fluid in this version, the players still look a little jittery while they're running. To further complicate matters, the Xbox 360 game also suffers from a greater frequency of minor bugs and AI quirks than its so-called "last-generation" ...

  • Not Bad, when its not freezing.....

Game is decent for what it is, a first generation Baseball game, pitching works well, but the game freezes like its supose to, it freezes for almost everyone i've talked to that has the game, mine does it after every first inning. Sux, i've had about 2 games go flawlessly but now its almost every time. Once this is fixed it'll be a better game. Rent before you buy and you'll be happy either way
