Notes
With a nod to those mighty soul jazz Hammond-B3 players Jack McDuff and Jimmy McGriff, Swingadelic! Has released their second CD titled 'Organ-ized!' Standup bassist and bandleader Dave Post has once again assembled some of the NYC metro area's finest players to come up with an eminently dance friendly, groovy collection of blues, boogaloo and swing. Lately Swingadelic! Has been featuring the tenor and alto sax and vocals of Buddy Terry, a Newark NJ native who has played with many notables on the blues and jazz scene, including Ray Charles (following in the chair of greats Fathead Newman and Hank Crawford), Count Basie, and Horace Silver. Post states that 'Buddy is that perfect player who can get down and dirty in a blues and blow beautiful melodies and improvisations on our jazzier numbers. Reverend Buddy can also sing his butt off in a style reminiscent of Lou Rawls.' Buddy was recently presented with a lifetime achievement award by the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation. 'This is one of the most refreshing bands we've heard in a long, long time. Check these guys out.' Jim Calderone, TotalSwing.com '...mastery of the jump blues/jive sound...Great blues guitar, organ, strong horns and vocals make this a CD and group to check out.' AnySwingGoes.com 'They've got a great jump blues sound with some jazzy grooves and rock'n'roll rhythms. Sure to get you out of your seat and dancing.' Swing-Music.com 'One of the reasons for our success is our house band, Swingadelic! The bands sets a groove that lasts all night long.' Earl Hicks, HobokenSwingScene.com '...killer swing sounds...Upright bassist/bandleader Dave Post assembles a mighty barrage of originals and covers, each one perfect for dancing. Excellent players..' Ed Ivey, Blues Revue.
