  • Excellent Acting Highlights Drama About Race

Stanley Kramer's Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? (1967) is a very good film. Starring Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, Sidney Poitier, and Katharine Haughton, this is the story of a white couple whose daughter brings home her fiance. The family is shocked to find out he's black. They must each come to terms with her interracial relationship. This is a historically notable film. To modern eyes, its views may seem somewhat dated, but it is nevertheless fascinating and powerful. The greatest aspect of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? is the superb acting. You couldn't ask for a much better cast than Tracy, Hepburn, and Poitier. The cast turn in excellent performances which drive the movie and keep us wondering how the characters will react and change when faced with strenuous ...

  • Oldie But Goody

Although I did not pay any attention to see this is a VHS which caused me to have to pull out the old VCR, I must say that the movie was EXCELLENT and well worth watching.

  • Poitier classic

In honor of Martin Luther King day, this classic was being shown on several channels. The era might be a bit dated but not the overall theme. It was great to see the interaction between Tracy and Hepburn. Their initial expressions were priceless. As they warmed up to John it was obvious that he would be an accepted member of the family. I bought it because the message is unchanged in forty years. I just wonder if the character of John would be accepted today if he wasn't as perfect and well bred the Yale doctor. The old VHS format gives it even more nostalgia that I miss. Recommended to others.

  • Without Guessing, this is a Classic

I consider this movie to be a classic. I saw the movie when it first came out and remembered it being somewhat controversial. I had found a VHS copy in a thrift store, but have managed to misplace it, either through loaning it to someone or just being unable to locate it in my things. I am grateful for the opportunity to purchase another copy on Ebay. The acting of the major players is superb and is the primary reason I can watch this movie over and over again. If you are a fan of Spencer Tracy, Sidney Portier and Katherine Hepburn, you'll want to have this movie in your collection.

  • One of the Best Movies Ever!

You are missing out if you have never seen this. It is by far one of the greatest movies ever. Well acted, costumes are great, keeps your attention. A timeless tale of prejudice and overcoming for love.
