This remake of the original, developed exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS by Career Soft and published by renowned Japanese video games publisher Atlus, introduces a number of new features alongside an expanded storyline. Unlike the original, which was limited by the cartridge capacity of the earlier generation Nintendo DS and forced Atlus to settle for only a partially voiced script, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked has fully voiced dialogue throughout. The remake also allows players to choose between difficulty levels and battle more than 150 demons – 20 more than the original’s 130 demon enemies – in turn-based battles. The most significant contribution of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked is The 8th Day, an all-new chapter to the story, set after the events of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor and elaborating on the original’s endings from the individual perspectives of Yuzu, Naoya, and Amane. Each of these new story developments is packed with immersive adventure and engaging plot points, building upon the success of the original game. Otherwise, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked for the Nintendo 3DS presents the same great RPG action in a visually enhanced, high-resolution format. Assuming the role of a 17-year-old student turned demon hunter in a modern Tokyo besieged with demons, players are challenged to save mankind within seven days. Players’ decisions in Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked affect the events, other characters, and ultimate outcome of the game, setting the stage for the all-new eighth day chapter. Gameplay mechanics are based on a tactical turn-based role-playing system, with combat interspersed with free-roaming exploration of several Tokyo districts in lockdown. While exploring the world, players can encounter other characters to progress the story, or simply engage in free battles to enhance the battle party members’ combat skills and prepare them for battling demon enemies of increasing strength. Comparable to the Pokémon games, also available on the Nintendo 3DS, players collect demons and assign them to characters for use in battle. As in the original, an engaging combat system in Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked on the 3DS gives players control over a maximum of four squads, each led by one of the game’s main human characters and possessing up to seven abilities. These abilities comprise active abilities assigned for use in combat, along with three passive abilities to influence the attributes of the unit and seventh ability slot for demon behaviors. As the game progresses, demons learn new abilities from opponents. An excellent game for fans of Atlus RPG games straight out of Japan, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked on the Nintendo 3DS offers adventure, demons, and immersive gaming fun with plenty of character. Like its predecessor, it stands as a benchmark example of top-quality handheld games, not to mention a worthy addition to the Shin Megami Tensei (SMT) series. With new content and an upgraded feel, Atlus’s Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked is just as suitable for newcomers to the story as it is for gamers who have cherished the game since the day of its original release.

    Super difficult game level but crazy addicting.

    Literally everything about this game is great. Your classic RPG, wonderful plotline and incredible graphics. I just wish I could beat the final level :L it's so hard. But definitely a 5/5!

    SMT continues to be great!

    Atlus games especially Shin Megami Tensei series are very good JRPGs and some can be challenging but rewarding. I highly recommend this game even at its current value
