It took about 15-20 minutes to install and does exactly what I needed it to do: stop the tailgate from slamming down when anyone but me opens it. One thing to note is that the retaining tab at the top of the strut needs to be safety wired or zip tied to keep it from falling off. See photo. Also don't forget to lubricate the moving parts.
