Graphic is not better than last year, feature & music are not better than live or nba08. Far too often players can pull up for jumpers with a man on them, and not have the shot contested. Guards will watch Nash shoot again and again, often not making an attempt to contest the shot or doing so far too late. This is unfortunate, because the offensive AI is absolutely brilliant. On offense, the AI takes advantage of mismatches, finds the open man, moves without the ball, and exploits holes in the D. It's really amazing to watch and requires your best defensive effort. How the AI can be so dynamically different on offense and defense is a mystery. On D, the AI is mediocre. With the rock, they can be deadly.
Well ,the game has changed from 07 ,but it still has great graphics and more contests like dunk contest or 3pt contest. But I can't say the game is very very good ,it has some problems: -Street mode(24/7) gone. -The game plays harder (at least for me) I mean defending is harder and attacking might be a problem at times. -Not so much mode changes as we could expect. -There's a pretty nasty bug(some say there's an update to fix this, but what about people who don't get online?):when you press the intentional foul button there's no foul-you just steal the ball. In conclusion I think the game is good enough and you should buy it if you like basketball. Hope this helps you :)
NBA 2k8 is definately the best basketball game available of 2008. At least if you want a very realistic basketball game. I realize that NBA live has a more arcade style of play, which some prefer, but if you want a very in depth and realistic basketball sim, then you have to go with 2k8. The gameplay and controls are really the most important parts of a sports game, and they are great here. the only control complaint I have is that players miss layups way too often. Like on a uncontested breakaway, you can miss a layup with the best players. That should definately not be the case. The new playcall feature lets you see the play onthe court as you run it, a feature I have been asking for for years, as its very hard to remember all your plays, and believe me you'll need them for this. Again, since it tries to be more realistic, you cant just score 150 points with one player and go 82-0, you have to use all your plays and put all your players to the best use you can. the number of defenses is also great, but some tend to work much better than others, and zones actually seem to work effectively, but a mix of all defenses is really the best. the best feature of this game is the animation. The way your players move is so fluid and realistic, it amazes me. Players dont just run through others now, if you collide with a ref, you get stopped and knocked back a little. The players aren't bad when they have close ups, but the players really are the best while they move. Overall, if you want very realistic and deep basketball gameplay and amazing animations, you have to buy 2k8 this year. Overall I give it an 8.5 or 9, but definately a 10 in recommendation. Despite a few flaws, it is the most realistic and deep game you can buy, and thats just the kind of game I like, but if really deep franchise modes and gameplay scare you, you can change the settings to your liking, so really theres something for everyone here.Read full review
NBA 2K8 continues its hoops dynasty in great form. I have much praise and only a few complaints. Praise 1) Playability - The open court control and dribbling are unrivaled. 2) Entertainment - You can play this game for hours on end due to the great game modes offered. 3) Graphics - The new animations are phenomenal! 4) Total User Experience - Front to back, this game is amazing. Although it may come across as too difficult at first for the new gamer, this game provides the closest experience to an actual NBA game that I have ever seen. The AI is fabulous, both on your team and the opposition. Complaints 1) Post Play - The play in the post is not nearly as fluid as experienced while playing NBA Live 08. 2) Graphics - (Yeah, I know I put this in praise also, but bear with me) Still shots of players and certain angles make players appear boxy, which should not happen in this day and age. Overall Thoughts NBA 2K8 is still the reigning NBA champ. My final rating: 9.1/10Read full review
I've had this game about a month now and have gone through a few seasons in the Franchise/Association mode and here are my thoughts... Graphics-I had 2k7 for PS3 and I thought the graphics were great, this year-I'm not sure if the graphics are better but the players movement is more relaistic. Sometimes the movements aren't as fluid as years past but it doesnt take away from the game too much. Gameplay-The game plays more like an NBA game. You can drive and score but it takes more teamwork and you can't just score 80 points with Kobe every game and expect to win the title. The game sliders are good so you can adjust the settings to your skill to make the game more difficult/easy depending on what you need. Flaws-You have to change substitutions and timeouts to "manual" before tipoff otherwise the comp. will sub your players and call timeouts. Sometimes when you throw and ally-oop a player flys through the air like he's LeBron and it looks a little cheezy. Good Stuff-The presentation and franchise mode are alot of fun. its easy to make trades and scout new players. Many of the features in past games are still here and are better this year. Overall there is nothing about this game that sticks out as really weak so it makes it a fun game. This game gets an A As the NBA season rolls on 2k Sports will probably update the game through a patch and it may tweak somethings I mention above. I would purchase this game if you like the 2k series and its the safe bet when trying to decide on what NBA game to buy. Thanks and check out my other reviews for PS3 games I have bought.Read full review
