You get what you pay for

Fit is good and build quality seems good but lens still rotates when fully tightened. Although there appears to be no slop when this collar is tightened, the resulting images are soft. I was on vacation. Reviewing images at my hotel in the evening on my laptop revealed a soft focus. I couldn't figure it out (soft images) until I removed the collar and worked without it. Resulting images on location were tack sharp without the collar. I always work on a tripod. The knob is too small for even my small fingers to grip. The angle inhibits fingers from getting a good grip. While I thought it was tight as possible, there was really no way to get a better grip without pliers and that may not have worked either if the screw was bottomed out or the clamp had no more room to go. After I dropped it ...

  • With a little engineering it would work properly well

Decided that the price wasn't too big of deal if it didn't work well and I was right. This collar is simply too loose to function even when it's tightened fully. There's simply too much slop and wiggling around in the clamp to properly work. Duct tape helps, but it then makes it sticky when the lens is rotated. The locking knob is a little too small and in the wrong place to be able to get a grip to tighten the collar to keep the lens from wiggling and even when it is tightened fully, the lens is still loose. Without some modification with duct tape, it won't work well. However, this very inexpensive collar can be made to be functional but probably can't be made to work as well as the OEM. But realize the OEM is 15 times the cost. Yes, it's very cheap, about ten bucks and can be made to ...

  • This product doesn't meet my needs

This tripod mount is a very good product but its not the right size to meet my needs. What I need is a tripod mount to fit a vintage M42 screw mount Vivitar Tele-Zoom 85 - 205 mm lens. The outer diameter of this lens is 6 cm. If you carry a tripod mount that will fit this lens, please let me know.

  • Too loose

Just simply doesn't tighten enough for serious shooters. I recently took on a nature photography trip and was not happy with not being able to tighten enough where as not to slip. Great price compared to Nikon for sure but if going to be using for a lot of photography I would pay the extra for the Nikon brand. Hopefully the Nikon won't slip! I just ordered one.

  • Solid and well built.

Solid and well built is how I would describe this product. The foot of the tripod collar balances the lens very well also. Considering the price, I see the tripod collar as a great value.
