The antenna is a good design. It is well-constructed. Any disappointment is due to marketing and not due to the antenna itself. It is not a 180-mile antenna if using it according to the instructions. An asterisk should be attached to the '180' with a detailed disclaimer to justify the claim and to explain the conditions. My 2002 8-ft boom full-sized pre-HDTV Radio Shack TV Yagi which is bigger than this stands a better chance at approaching a 100 mile claim with its multiple and tuned drivers. This new and purchased product is medium-sized, not small, not huge. It has one dipole driver for all frequencies. The biggest issue is following the directions expecting the hookup to be the correct way to connect it. I would place the pre-amplifier AT the black plastic wedge-shaped interface at the antenna, and not at the end of the cable run inside the house. You want the amplified signal to take the cable loss running to the house, not the weak raw signal. An experienced trained knowledgeable tech should make the mod either with the supplied parts or with a power over cable system. A 5-volt ps located in the house will not deliver 5 volts to the preamp due to resistance in the length of the cable. Spray all plastic with UV protectant. Humi-seal and fungal-seal the plastic bits and the steel hardware.Read full review

With the caveat that I may have been sent an antenna that (not visibly) is defective (I've been thinking possible issue in the balun - little black plastic enclosure that impedance matches to the coax going to the set) I can say that this antenna is really bad. I bought it to replace a single panel "bow-tie" (trying to get better reception of stations about 75 miles away)and it does less than half as well as that antenna did. (I don't have the equipment to do a real diagnosis - signal reflectometers and such - but I am sure the installation is correct, the coax is good, the amplifier is plugged it, etc. In one way or another, the problem is the antenna. Either really bad design / bad unit basically. Or defective item.)

Does come in real sharp when we get the reception. We still get the fractures and sound distort tho certain times of day or night. We live in the foothills and the signal is weird, sometimes great, most times not. No rhyme nor reason for the timing or why. The antenna is small and compact and light and easy to mount on your roof. I think if we didn't have a hill behind us it would be the perfect solution.

We did not expect it to work when the weather is bad, windy or stormy. But we are disappointed that it does not work well on cloudy or rainy days without wind. We raised it higher and made it more secure so that it cannot move but that did not make that much difference, picture breaks up. When it is good weather it works great. Maybe there is another factor where we are located interrupting service that we don't know about. For the money it cost, we would suggest people try it.

It is a great product however Its not 180 miles. I am able to get 40+ HD channels from a major city 40 miles away. I live on top of a hill with no trees around. I can not reach the 60 miles away channels of another major city no matter what direction I turn the antenna. I would still recommend this product and I have. Two of my neighbors has gotten rid of their dish and bought this same antenna with the same results I have.
