  • Resurrected my dead door opener

The owner’s manual troubleshooting guide indicated a dead electronics board. The manufacturer support person diagnosed as a dead motor. I questioned in my mind the expertise of the customer support person and even asked, based on the manual which said it’s almost never a bad motor; and my own personal experience with HVAC motors (in which case it’s almost always a capacitor) . The phone support lady said she didn’t think it was the capacitor based on the symptoms. (Unit would only hum briefly and lights would come on and stay on, but no movement). Based on all that I bought an electronics board which didn’t change the symptoms once installed. After more research I became more convinced it was the capacitor. And once installed, the unit worked like a champ.
