    An excellent transaction, purchase price was more than fair. USPS beat the shipping box a bit, but the inner packaging was more than enough to absorb the abuse. Unpacked the instrument, inspected, installed batteries, attached a Geiger-muller probe and turned it on. Geiger counter responded like it was still 1965 (the year it was made). Makes a nice addition to my instrument collection.

    Old Survey Meters.

    These aren’t that great........unless you understand how to use them and know their limitations. Keep in mind that the 715 and 717 series are only useful in certain circumstances as in an actual nuclear attack. If you want to experiment and learn about radioactivity and detect radioactive items that wont kill you then the model 700 is more useful. They are also very bulky not something to carry around for a warning device. There are much better options however if you like history and want something for a fallout shelter these could work for you.

    Solid and Simple

    The body is all metal and the components are all analog and most of the components are off the shelves. There is sign of usage and minor wear and tear, but it had been taken care of and the battery compartment is corrosion free. This device may require proper refurbishing before operating it, certain components involves high voltage, so do some homework before attempting to service it.
