    High-performance heat sink direct upgrade for HP Z400 computer

    This is the high-performance heat sink for faster chips that need it. I upgraded my Z400 from an Intel W3505 (dual core) to a W3570 (quad core +HT). When I rebooted the bios warned that the high performance heat sink was not detected. I could bypass the warning, but I could see the new CPU temperature was rising too much. This heat sink was a direct replacement, same size and shape, but more cooling capacity. I swapped out the heat sinks and now the CPU stays cool, even with 8 threads at 100%. It looks so similar to the original heat sink it's hard to believe they are different, but they are.

    HP Z400 CPU upgrade

    This was for a processor upgrade on a second HP Z400 Workstation, using an Intel 5690 Xeon 6 core processor. The machine is used for video editing and 3D rendering programs. CPU runs cool and efficiently and the heatsink assembly was a drop in / plugin.

    Well built, clean and does what it supposed to do!

    I originally bought this because my smaller heatsink that came in my z400 didn't work with the CPU processor I upgraded it to. I put this one in its place. Its clean, affordable, and does what its supposed to do! Very nice I'm willing to buy from this buyer again anytime! Worth a full 5 stars!

    Good Value

    This Heatsink is for the HP Z420, but I adapted it for the Z800. I needed a high performance cooler for my Xeon X5680 and the original for my Z800 is more expensive, so, I took a chance with the Z420 heatsink. It is slightly wider, so I installed it sideways and is working fine.

    OOPS

    I was disapointed to find out the add was misleadeing as it said it fit the z600 workstation. I was able to modify the case by drilling a couple of small holes. It is physically much larger than the one used in a z600. In the end it worked though, and it was a favorable price and came very quickly. I should have done more homework.
