Interesting but heavy emphasis on religion
Everyone wonders about if there's an afterlife and what is it like. Having a strong medical background I have faced seeing death frequently and have recently lost my mother for which I still grieve. I was interested in a physician's experience with actually dying and returning after resuscitation. Although the author had a Lutheran background, I found the book relying more heavily on discussing the strong faith and religion rather than the ( recalled) experiences of actual death. I found it interesting enough, it essentially repeats what we have all heard before. I was looking for descriptions of actual experiences in more detail. If you are not a very religious person, you may question the validity of the documented experience. I don't regret reading it, but I don't completely accept the story as unadulterated facts. The presence of hope and faith in religion are certainly dominant features in this book. Sadly I was somewhat disappointed to read the book was promoted on Fox News which I frankly despise because of Fox's long history of false information. Perhaps I had incorrect expectations of the book, but for some people, they may also questioning the validity and accuracy of the book. Amazing stories of Heaven! I am blessed.
I love near death stories and this one kept me enthralled with the stories of Heaven. Heaven is real!!! God has shown me Heaven in dreams and it is exactly like the description in this book. The story is a true story and an account of God’s mercy and unbelievable miracle. I have seen the story on TV but the book details other events where it’s clear that God has been with doctor Cathy and her family and He made her aware of His presence; A God who loves her. Doctor Mom dies, but lives to tell about where her spirit went for several minutes.
Take a person who has always been more scientifically minded than religious minded and let her get a glimpse of Heaven and she'll not only find herself with quite a tale to tell, but she will also have trouble finding the right religious words to describe her experience. But she gets her message across very well. Her view of Heaven may have been limited, but the effect on her life was certainly profound. Her book is more about this effect on her life than it is about her brief visit.
