Style, Functionality, and Value for Money
This Tissot Seastar 1000, Model T120.407.11.051.00, is a solid dive watch that has a good measure of style and functionality. The stainless steel case with its deco-esque brushed and polished finishes adds a touch of sophistication, and I suppose a bit of flash. While the unidirectional rotating bezel provides a practical tool for measuring dive times, I certainly don’t make use of it…I guess if I cared about that I would note that it's a bit stiff and clicky, but no notable backplay. One complaint I read in a couple of other reviews was regarding the faintness of the numerals on the bezel…I actually love this. Because nobody actually uses dive bezels to dive (or really for anything else) I find that pronounced numerals can really compete with a clean, sleek, minimal dial (which I prefer). In this case the subtlety of the bezel compliments the dial and does not detract from it. The black dial, adorned with decently luminous hour markers and hands, offers solid legibility in low-light conditions. I also appreciate the symmetry of the color matched date complication at the 6 o'clock position. The watch is substantive but very wearable. I have long arms with a 7 inch wrist, and the 43mm case diameter does not look excessive (it looks bigger in my pictures than in real life), and more importantly the 49.6mm lug to lug does not create gaps due to the sufficiently turned down lugs. The stainless steel bracelet is pretty shiny/blingy but by a stroke of luck the previous owner had sized it to a perfect fit for my wrist so I’ve been wearing it and you definitely feel some heft with both the watch and bracelet on the wrist. That said, while I fully intended to put it on a rubber strap prior to purchase, the bracelet is really growing on me (it is prone to smudges and scuffs though, so be aware). With a water resistance rating of 300 meters (1000 feet), this Seastar is well-equipped to handle various diving activities. Honestly, I’ll never make use of this feature but it's nice to know I’m covered at a pool party or something. The Powermatic 80 movement is living up to its reputation, the watch has demonstrated consistent accuracy, and that 80 hour power reserve is no joke. I think the Tissot Seastar 1000 offers excellent value for money. Granted, I got this one used for less than $350, but having had it for over a week now I really think I got a steal.

The watch looks amazing in person. The bracelet fell a bit cheap so you may want to swap it out if it really bugs you. I may have also received a lemon so take that with a grain of salt.
