Good camera, lousy app
The Samsung SNH-V6430BNH is a really good camera. Has nice resolution and low light capabilities. The Samsung security camera division was apparently acquired by HanHwa. So not sure who is at fault for the really terrible app. I use the SmartCam app on a Samsung Galaxy S8+. Setting up the camera with the app initially was easy and fairly straight forward. I like the easy to understand icons and settings. I could not get a high resolution image over my wifi but the low res is pretty good. However that's about where the good ends and the bad begins. The app loses connection all the time. It'll regain it occasionally if you are within feet of the camera but try to use it at work or anywhere else not within a few feet of the camera and there's no connection. I get the notifications that it senses motion but forget about trying to view. Forget about trying to view the recorded content too. I can see that it's recording events, so I know it's on the mini SD card but I can't view it without getting a lost connection message. They need to fix the app. I understand that they removed certain functions because there is a known security flaw with Samsung branded IP cameras. Instead of fixing the flaw, they just remove the functionality. I like that it uses a mini SD card. Supposedly there are other IP camera apps that can be used with the camera but I haven't had much luck getting them to work. I would give four stars for the camera and zero for the app. So a three star average.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Easy setup
These cameras are little pricey, but you get what you pay for. The setup is easy no need to login to you modem or router to open a port. No need for DVR, it will records in cycle on SD card. I have 5 of these now and they all work great. I have some hard wired, some wireless. Range isnt fantastic on the wireless, but they do a good job. I painted mine to match the trim, they are very difficult to notice.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
