The old Shinedown gone? Or an example of further evolution?
YouTube has a gazillion reviews of Threat & anyone considering a purchase of this album should go there & get the majority's take ... which is overwhelmingly positive. Granted, some diehards, who still consider themselves fans, are nonetheless disappointed in the bands "new" direction (I think they prefer a much harder sound); but most reviewers love the album & are thrilled to get their hands on more of Shinedown's great music. Personally, I know of no other band that combines such a great rock sound (accompanied by enough yelling & growling to make me smile) really beautiful music, & tops it all off with the smartest & most authentic lyrics ever. For me,Threat proves that for all their commitment to evolving (which they pull off with each new release), somehow they manage to still be true to who they've always been. Their first single from Threat, "Cut the Cord," is easily as good as any of their older songs. The energy is contagious & actually this song catapulted the band into my #1 favorite band status. It's possible that this next comment may disqualify my review (in your eyes) as it reveals an unqualified bias...but every Shinedown song on every album forces me to involuntarily sing along, and honestly, no other band has ever made me sound as good as they do. They Just Keep Getting Better!
I've loved Shinedown from the beginning and I love how diverse their music has become and how fantastically it's evolved. There's some great music on this album. They know how to rock and the lyrics are unique. This band doesn't seem to get the credit they deserve. This album is great from beginning to end. A must-have for any Shinedown fan. This shinedown cd is the best cd that I have listen to in a long time all the song is good if not great they could do a vido for all the song or sing any of them at there show and they would have great feed back on them I did not find one song that was bad or just something to fill the cd as all was great.
