Old better than new!
Searched in stores for this older Mr. Coffee 4 cup when ours finally gave out after constant use. But, of course, it was no longer available. The model out now uses paper filters. This one has a removable but permanent filter. We didn't want the additional bother or expense of paper filters. And, if you want to make more than 4 cups, there is some room in the carafe to safely add a little more water after increasing the amount of ground coffee for your taste. This can not be done with the latest Mr. Coffee model we saw. This model is not digital and does not have a clock or timer. If that is something you want, don't purchase it. These days it's next to impossible to find a simple product that does what you want and need it to do. I purchased this little coffee maker for my mother as she only drinks a cup or two of coffee a day. She really didn't want a complicated, computer operated, multi buttoned single cup coffee brewer.
