I wish I knew to migrate to 230V earlier
In a small data center, a UPS and a PDU is standard equipment. I was using 120V equipment for years, before learning that most servers are already compatible with 230V circuits, as their power supplies are full-range since about 2008. Migrating to 230V circuits makes the server power supply about 5% more efficient, which means saving about $300 per year per server on the power bill. Also, some equipment such as GPU cages or Oracle servers draw so much current that they require a 230V circuit, and won't work on 120V. This means that when investing in a new UPS and/or PDU, going for 230V is a better option because it saves power, and is more flexible in accommodating high-power equipment.
