For more information, visit www.folger.edu ., The authoritative edition of The Tempest from The Folger Shakespeare Library, the trusted and widely used Shakespeare series for both students and general readers. Putting romance onstage, The Tempest gives us a magician, Prospero, a former duke of Milan who was displaced by his treacherous brother, Antonio. Prospero is exiled on an island, where his only companions are his daughter, Miranda, the spirit Ariel, and the monster Caliban. When his enemies are among those caught in a storm near the island, Prospero turns his power upon them through Ariel and other spirits. The characters exceed the roles of villains and heroes. Prospero seems heroic, yet he enslaves Caliban and has an appetite for revenge. Caliban seems to be a monster for attacking Miranda, but appears heroic in resisting Prospero, evoking the period of colonialism during which the play was written. Miranda's engagement to Ferdinand, the Prince of Naples and a member of the shipwrecked party, helps resolve the drama. - h***l (84)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseI was really excited to get this collection! It's such a large series that buying it individually on my own would have been a real pain. So built in value right there. The seller took a little while but stayed within the promised shipping time frame. Shipping was quite reasonable considering it was a box with 22 books. The books themselves were in good condition, just as described. The seller was very good about communication. I would highly recommend this store and will be a return shopper!
- a***9 (160)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseMain set has arrived safely and sound. Per our conversation, the single from a 3rd source has not yet arrived. Items are as described, good condition, clean. Very happy with communication and quality. As per third photo, do you by any chance have The Black Stallion's Shadow and The Black Stallion's Steeple-Chaser? If so, I would be interested in acquiring those from you, also.
