Behind the Walls of Silence We get the light shining through eventually in this book.
The young women who entered the convent to be nuns I believe had a strong desire to serve.
I however believe many were too young and not developed as they were 17,18, 19 years of age.
It struck me that things young women that had left the convent because of what I call "oddness"
by the Mother Superior and as you delve more into the book it becomes a community of
not all but an underground world of practicing nun lesbians through many no fault of their own.
There were the Mother Superior's who would keep watch on the frirendships of these young
women and if she felt they were spending too much time togetther they would call these
freindships "a particular" friendship as those Mother Superiors were well aware of the secret
crushes the nuns had on the other nuns and it wasn't so much about lust per sey; but it was
that these young women were discovering their sexuality and during the 70's , the climate of
of the country was upheavel and we had the Vietnam war going on and protests and we had
women beginning to fight for equal rights.
These are stories told my 50 lesbians and what they went through in the convent and why
they left the order. It's true and interesting.
