NotesCorona of the Sun (COTS) is an up and coming band from Troy, NY. This Rock/Grunge/Funk/Classic Rock band has a unique sound and it's influences include Pearl Jam, The Who and Led Zeppelin, with their music ranging from the softness of 'Better Man' to the crunch of 'All Along the Watchtower'. Their sound can be described as a mixture of early Pearl Jam and the more recent Audioslave with the mind-blowing energy of The Who. COTS is currently working to expose it's infectious sound to the Capital Region. Their sound may appeal mainly to the college crowd, but their lyrics can appease any generation. They would be a fantastic opening act as their intense stage show livens up almost any crowd. Over the past year they have been performing at RPI events including fraternity parties, Ground Zero Open Mic Nights, and have most recently won the RPI Battle of the Bands Competition. Outside of RPI, they have played at the Hudson Duster in Troy, NY and Valentine's in Albany, NY. This close-knit group formed more than two years ago and has never looked back. They are currently in the midst of releasing their debut album featuring 10 original songs. They also cover a vast range of artists such as Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and The Ramones as well as some from today including Audioslave, Pearl Jam, Lit, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, and Weezer.
